Not at all clear just who the translator is of this edition, presumably not a recent translation. It is readable and for the Georgics that is enough. They can be read with interest and appreciation, on this Kindle edition. Virgil is one of the greatest of the ancient Roman poets and anything he has written is well worth reading.Product details

Nice readable translation. Was only interested in light reading to get Virgil's general thoughts on this subject so was very satisfied.
The best book I've ever read!
This classic work by Virgil pays homage to the country life. Presented in poetic form, it conveys the beauty, the joys, the hard work, and the ups and downs of farming. Best passages (to this first-time reader) were the first 40+ lines of Book I which set the stage, the marvelous depiction of horses in Book 3, and the fascination with bees conveyed in Book IV. The translation was excellent and very helpful to this non-Latin speaker! Make sure you read it slowly since it is poetry after all - much more enjoyable that way.
